MV GALAXY PART TWO
In August of 1986 the wreck of The Galaxy was lifted out of the water, and the above picture shows the kitchen onboard. This is were those famous John Pancake pancakes were baked. Could need a bit of cleaning up.
The 50 kw transmitter, or whats left of it. The door shows the level the water reached.
We should have saved the funnel with the RL logo.
The ship was beyond repair.
Environmental precautions around the ship. There was still diesel onboard.
On the bow the name Galaxy can still bee seen.
Would have looked good in our garden, only the funnel ofcourse.
February 1944, Density in the water for the first time.
August 1986, almost out of the water, the end is near.
1944, before the launch..........
1986, it looks as if she crawled out of the water and thought:
Enough is enough.
Sad end for a legendary ship. Density/Galaxy 1944-1986.
She'd better be remembered like this..........
